Pen and Arthur are originally from Taiwan, and they now reside in North Vancouver, BC. The studio was created as they were wanting to do something creative in the garage they had, a space that is unheard of in Taiwan with high density living and very limited space. The material they chose to play with was wood, which came naturally as they were extremely astonished and inspired by the abundance of greenery in North Vancouver. ArtPen Studio is the perfect outlet to merge Pen's background in art and design, and Arthur's background in engineering as well as his enthusiasm in machine and technology.

I took over what was supposed to be my parents retirement gig, to do something in their old age that will keep them busy, it grew from that notion to become so popular, so many requests for heating pads, so little time left for relaxation in retirement, that’s when I stepped in. I took charge of the family business, I hired my parents to stay on as inventory specialist(dad) and quality control(mom), I threw the name “Erna’s original heating pads” out there for the world to see via a website.

Vancouver artist Kris G. Brownlee (also known as k.g.b.) is devoted to cute art that's a wee bit dark.

Through my art, I aim to preserve moments in time, to distill memories of places and emotional connections they evoke. Observing nature is a spiritual experience. My art is meant to speak to that experience. I paint landscapes of the North West Coast of Canada, a place I call home. Ocean, ancient rainforests, rocky coast and rugged, mountainous ranges are the subjects in my paintings. I am fascinated with light, texture and how they change the landscape moment to moment, day to day. That is why I love working in oils and cold wax. The viscosity and richness of oil pigments combined with the malleability and depth of cold wax are perfect for the message I am trying to convey in my art. Everchanging light and how it affects nature around us, including all living things, is the main focus of my work. l only create original art, never copies or prints.
